The non-xp kits come with an AC transformer that can be run upto 1000' from a wall outlet. The unit can NOT accept 110V ac directly.

Is it possible to provide utility power to the gate opener? The unit would be mounted 700 feet from my house. How would I calculate the voltage drop? Which is better for the long distance, A/C or D/C? I could mount the transformer in my house or at the gate?
